ABOUT
OUR STUDIO
The mission of the studio is to provide an accessible video production resource for Foothill faculty and staff for the purposes of creating video content for education, archive, and outreach.
For years, there have been conversations about constructing a faculty video studio at Foothill College. There have been a few iterations since then, and our current video studio has grown from the ideas planted during those past incubations.
At the end of 2014, professional video equipment was purchased through the Department of Fine Arts and Music Technology and the Science Learning Institute, with the approval of department Deans Mark Anderson and Peter Murray. At the beginning of 2015, Rai Hsu was invited to head this pilot video program. Alongside three faculty members - Jeff Anderson, Lori Silverman, and Frank Cascarano - we began shooting in the studio in February of 2015.
The studio is currently funded until June 30, 2016. Its continuation will be determined by whether there is enough faculty and staff participation to lobby for the acquisition of alternative funding sources needed to keep this resource available on campus.
The studio has since expanded into an open weekend studio available to all faculty, as well as hosting video skills workshops, and providing video recording and editing services at The Krause Center for Innovation, Smithwick Theater, Lohman Theater, Appreciation Hall, and other venues and events at Foothill College.
If you have any video production requests, feel free to contact us anytime. We look forward to working with you!
